2,143 cyber attacks in Brunei last year

LAST year, the Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCert) recorded 2,143 attacks on cybersecurity in Brunei, of which 38 per cent was caused by malicious software. According to a survey by the World Economic Forum 2018, cyber attacks are listed as one of the key risks of doing business, while a study conducted by Accenture showed that a malware attack on a company will cost an estimated USD2.4 million, with an average time of recovery within 50 days. It is also reported that within the period of a year, the average global cost of cybercrime will have increased by 27 per cent. More details in Friday’s Borneo Bulletin
