THE ASEAN-Korea Centre held the opening ceremony of the 2018 ASEAN Culinary Festival at COEX, Seoul yesterday.

Brunei’s Communication Attache at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Korea Rosnani binti Mohd Yassin is one of the chefs for the culinary festival.

The event was attended by ASEAN-Korea Centre Secretary General Lee Hyuk; Union Minister of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar U Ohn Maung; ASEAN ambassadors and diplomatic envoys, as well as prominent members of the Korean government, business community, media, academia, and tourism industry.

The ceremony featured ‘Live Cooking Show’ with celebrity chef Lee Wonil from Korea and Dato’ Chef Ismail bin Ahmad from Malaysia; ‘Toque Ceremony’ with ASEAN ambassadors and chefs; introduction of 20 ASEAN dishes; and cultural performances by Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The 2018 ASEAN Culinary Festival ends tomorrow. The festival will present the ‘ASEAN culinary booth’ and ‘ASEAN drink booth’ as well as public events that offer information on gastronomy tourism in ASEAN member countries and giveaways, along with traditional ASEAN performances.

The ASEAN Culinary Festival, held for three consecutive years, attracted about 3,500 visitors and 4,100 visitors in 2016 and 2017, providing an opportunity for the Korean public to enjoy authentic ASEAN dishes.
