EIGHTY-FIVE offences were recorded during a nationwide roadblock jointly conducted by different law enforcement agencies in several locations on Saturday night, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said.
The four-hour joint operation which commenced at 9pm was conducted in three locations in Kampong Kuala Lurah in the Brunei-Muara District; Sungai Tujoh Container Depot in Belait District and Ujong Jalan Control and Inspection Complex in Temburong District.
The operation saw 76 compound fines and one docket fine issued by the Traffic Control and Investigation Department (JSKLL) and police district; two offences under the customs and excise act as well as one offence and five arrests made for drug related offences.
A hundred and twenty-four personnel from different law enforcement agencies including the JSKLL, RBPF, Land Transport Department, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Immigration and National Registration Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, Religious Enforcement Unit, Halal Food Control Division and also the Internal Security Department were involved the in the operation held in conjunction with the first term school holidays.
Police said the operation was held to enhance the discipline of road users and also in ensuring that laws and regulations in the country are being complied with.
