PARIS (dpa) – Coming soon to evening dress: pots, pans, plates and cups will be printed on clothing soon, if fashion designer Bertrand Guyon has his way after showing his Paris collection for haute couture house Elsa Schiaparelli.
Guests attending his spring/summer 2016 show in Paris sat in front of high shelves filled with the kind of kitchenware you would see in a provincial farmhouse. The clothes bore plate, fruit and teacup motifs.
Guyon also drew upon surrealist-inspired patterns such as butterflies, lobsters and hearts to decorate his designs. What may sound over the top charmed the fashion buyers. Guyon’s designs were exquisitely finished, some in a perfectly matched patchwork technique, and used the finest silk and raw linen. One model wore a long dress decorated with breakfast crockery, draped over with a long piece of chiffon. Other designs vaguely resembled British tea.
