THE team from the Special Force Regiment (SFR) emerged champion in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Orienteering Competition held at the Berakas Forest Reserve today by collecting 2,555 points.
The runner-up position went to Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) with 2,440 points while the Ministry of Defence came in third place was with 2,320 points.
In the Individual Categories, Lt Col Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman won the category for 40 years old and above. Meanwhile Sgt Marzan bin Sinjan, Cpl Awg Mohd Ardey Affizulnor Yusra bin Arbi and Cpt Abdul Hazim bin Haji Abdul Rahman won the 35 to 39 years old, 30 to 34 years old and 29 years old and below respectively.
The orienteering competition was aimed to test map reading skills as well as their mental and physical endurance. In this competition the participants were given a set of time span to search for the allocated check points.

The participating teams were RBLF, Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Training Institute RBAF (TI RBAF), SFR and the Ministry of Defence.
Present as the guest of honour to present prizes was the Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah. Also present were services commanders, commandant of Training Institute RBAF, directors, senior officers and other RBAF personnel.
