Local arrested for stealing from mosque donation box

A 33-YEAR-OLD local man was arrested by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday for alleged thefts from donation boxes in the Kampong Kilanas Mosque which took place on March 7 and 8, 2016.

According to a statement from RBPF, the Central Police Station received a report of theft from five donation boxes in the mosque on March 9.

The acts were recorded on the CCTV installed inside the mosque on March 7 and 8.

A complaint was also lodged by the Mosque Affairs Officer following information from the public on an individual who was seen near the donation boxes in the mosque.

The CCTV footage showed the individual stealing money from the box.

The RBPF is currently conducting further investigation under Section 380, Chapter 22 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

According to the RBPF statement, to increase public safety and protect property CCTVs are installed at places like mosques, roads and recreational parks which could help police in investigations if any criminal activities are reported.
