Bangladesh hails ties with Brunei

A RECEPTION was held at the The Rizqun International Hotel last night to commemorate Bangladesh’s 46th Independence and National Day.

Present as the guest of honour at the event was Dato Paduka Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, the Minister of Development.

Also in attendance were permanent secretaries, heads of diplomatic missions, senior government officials, diplomats, local dignitaries, leading local businessmen and prominent members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community.

The reception commenced with the playing of the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and Bangladesh, which was followed with a speech by Mohammed Abdul Hye, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam.

Mohammed Abdul Hye lauded the growth of bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and Bangladesh in the areas of culture, arts, education, defence training and the employment of skilled workers.

He also mentioned recent developments in Bangladesh, including the construction of the Padma Bridge, the new sea-port at Payra, a new airport at Bagerhat and the Dhaka-Chittagong four-lane motorway.

The High Commissioner expressed his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, for supporting professionals, students and workers from Bangladeshi the opportunity to showcase their talents and expertise in the Sultanate.

Around 300 guests attended the reception last night.
