TO SUPPORT the government’s drive in assisting local farmers and gardeners, a 61-year-old local man has ventured into developing a one-stop centre to provide agriculture machinery, equipment and plantation products to farming enthusiasts.
Chai Yum Fatt, Director of AE Asia Agri-Mart Sdn Bhd, has set up a project on a specially built 80,000 sq feet area in a five acre site in Jalan Bengkurong Masin which accommodates agricultural product showrooms selling flower pots, vegetable seeds and fertiliser as well as storage facilities. Phase 1 of the project offers 36 units and Chai plans to sell Brunei handicraft in the area later.
“Besides providing local agricultural products, the company has also introduced a number of agricultural products from overseas at the one-stop facility,” Chai said.
Phase 2 of the project will accommodate a conference room, office, library etc. The entire site will be completed in five years. Chai aims to make his enterprise the largest and most equipped agricultural products provider in Brunei.
With more than 20 years of experience in the agriculture sector with headquarters in Sungai Liang in Belait and branches in Jalan Tutong, Kilanas, Berakas and Sungai Liang, Chai’s company has become a popular destination of agriculture enthusiast where they can shop for a variety of agriculture machinery and products.
The project site also grows pumpkins, soursop, eggplant and gourd, and Chai welcomes members of the public to watch the attractions his novel project offers.
