STYLING a house could make a huge difference to how you feel about your home.
It often only requires small changes such as the addition of brighter colours, soft furnishings and personal pieces to bring rooms alive. A professional couple and their three children live in this unique three storey house which exudes a mood of mellow warmth and welcome.
The family moved here about a year ago in search of more spacious accommodation for their growing teenagers.
This house was the perfect fit because not only does it have many living spaces but it also has a lovely conservatory which looks out onto a quaint back garden area.
It took the mother and a few good friends about three weeks to re-decorate the living spaces in this home.

The result – beautiful eclectic interiors that are cosy and comfortable.
In composing the living and dining areas this homemaker added accessories that she loves.
Some of these include a cherished collection of delicate white crockery that was given to her by her mother which is displayed in the kitchen and dining area; a beautifully carved wooden bowl bought from a friend; a heart-shaped door ornament made out of brilliant white shells, made by her sister; and a few other unique pieces bought while on family holidays in Bali, England, Bangkok and Philippines.
The bedrooms are on the second floor and each one reveals a distinct personal style.
From the moment you enter the master bedroom a beautifully stencilled accent wall catches your attention. The colour and pattern has an uplifting effect. The room is light and spacious and has its own ensuite with a relaxing spa tub.
The three teens occupy the other bedrooms on this floor and these have been decorated using colours and display pieces that reflect their different interests.
The third floor is an entertainment area for the eldest boy. This open plan space with its vibrant red accent wall is the ideal place for hanging out with friends and watching football games on the telly as it is fitted out with its own sofa set, kitchen and bathroom.
This closely knit family have lived in various parts of the UK and have experienced both the quietude of rural living as well as the thrills of life in London.
Now settled in Brunei and enjoying life here, the teenagers are busily involved with lots of sporting activities; the father is a teacher; and the mother who is passionate about healthy cooking is also busy doing catering.
Her dishes have been designed for people who love food, who love to eat and who have made a conscious decision to maximise their health and wellbeing.
A few of the delicious healthy options on her menu include roast chicken and three rice salad with fresh herbs or cous cous with roasted vegetables, feta and harissa dressing. Her dishes are all made with a variety of fresh, wholesome local produce.
She believes that food, like life, should be savoured – so family and friends are always invited round to eat, chat and enjoy.
The style of this home revolves around simple, unique elements and a warm atmosphere for the family to bask in. – Text & Photos by Inspire Living Magazine
