MUHAMMAD Anuar bin Haji Bahar from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) emerged triumphant in the Da’ie Muda competition with 82 per cent, beating seven other contestants from various institutions in the country.
Held at the UNISSA Auditorium yesterday, the event was attended by the guest of honour Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad, Deputy Rector of UNISSA; senior officers, deans, deputy deans, lecturers, staff and undergraduates of UNISSA.
Md Nur Adli bin Haji Manan also from UNISSA with 75 per cent, came second, while Mohammad Khairul Muaz bin Haji Sibodaud from Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) won third place with 70 per cent.
The prizes were presented to the winners by the guest of honour.
The competition essentially endeavoured to nurture and generate skills of an orator who preaches Islamic principles.

The event marked the conclusion of the ‘Awakening the Ummah’ programme, a four-day session that incorporated religious talks to educate and inculcate Islamic teachings, encouraging the undergraduates and youths to be more active and creative in conducting religious activities.
The competition attracted eight participants from KUPU SB, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Teknologi Brunei and UNISSA.
A ‘tausyeh’ presentation was performed by ‘Aswatun Fannan,’ a group of undergraduates from UNISSA.
The Da’ie Muda competition also sought to encourage undergraduates to be more active in religious programmes, making them a complete Muslim and bringing vital exposure to participants in oratory skills.
