Pertiwi ladies visit Kg Sungai Matan tourist spots

OVER 70 members of the Pertiwi Association, led by Vice-President Datin Hajah Fatimah binti Dato Seri Setia Abang Haji Razali, recently made a visit to Kampong Sungai Matan, for a closer look at the village’s activities and projects being implemented under the ‘One Village, One Product’ (1K1P)scheme.

After a briefing by Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman bin Pengiran Haji Zainal, the Village Head of Kampong Sungai Matan, the delegation was taken on a tour to witness the village homestay programme, cultural performances, traditional fishing, a river cruise and a jungle trek at Bukit Matan.

Meanwhile, Kampong Sungai Matan has become a popular tourist attraction, with a record of more than 7,000 visitors to the village.

Besides local and regional tourists, the village has also received travellers from Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, France and Germany.

Kampong Sungai Matan is also popular for the annual Fishing Challenge competition, the Matan Carnival and its seafood products.

The village even has its own passenger boat for trips along the Brunei River to boost tourist activities.
