A HANDING over ceremony to officiate the appointment of 329 Colonel Haji Abidin bin Haji Abdul Hamid as the Commandant of the Training Institute RBAF was held at the Parade Square Training Institute, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (TI RBAF) yesterday.
Upon arrival to the parade square, 248 Lieutenant Colonel Hasmee bin Haji Abdul Wahab, the outgoing Commandant of Training Institute RBAF, was given the Honorary Salute followed by an inspection of parade by the training institute’s military personnel under the command of 393 Major Mazlan bin Dato Paduka Haji Manan.
Lieutenant Colonel Hasmee first served as a Second Lieutenant on December 13, 1985.
During his career, he served as a Platoon Commander in the ‘A’ Company First Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force and has served as Head of International Monitoring Team of Brunei Darussalam in Cotabato, Mindanao, Republic of Philippines from 2010 to 2011.

He became Deputy Commandant of TI RBAF in 2012 and became Commandant of TI RBAF in 2013.
He was awarded a number of industrious honours and medals among them the Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei (4th Class) in 1998 and in 2012 he awarded the Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei (3rd Class).
Meanwhile, Colonel Haji Abidin has served at the Training Institute from 2008 until 2010 as the Officer Commanding, Officer Development Wing. He was given the mandate to hold the office Commandant of TI RBAF.
So far he has been awarded a number of honours and medals, among them the Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei (4th Class) in 2002 and the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 2006.
The ceremony then proceeded with the signing of the Handing Over Certificate between 329 Colonel Haji Abidin bin Haji Abdul Hamid and 248 Lieutenant Colonel Hasmee bin Haji Abdul Wahab, thus making the handing over ceremony official.
A Doa Selamat was read by 807 Captain Pengiran Khairuddin bin Pengiran Haji Tali from the Religious Unit of the RBAF to bless the ceremony. To mark the acceptance of the new placement duty, Colonel Haji Abidin received an Honorary Salute and later inspected the military personnel on the parade square.
