The individuals were caught for committing the offence under Minor Offences Act, Chapter 12.

The operation involved eight personnel from the Law Enforcement Unit.

In a separate case, a pharmacy shop in the heart of the capital was levied with a fine of $200 for dumping rubbish in a public place.

The company, which was levied with the compound fine, must settle the fine within seven days.

If the company fails to settle the fine, the matter will be referred to court and if found guilty, the punishment will be a $1,000 fine or one month imprisonment for the first convicted offence.

For the subsequent offence, the punishment will be a $3,000 fine or imprisonment of not more than three months.

The Law Enforcement Unit of BSB Municipal Department urged companies to maintain the cleanliness of their premises as well as to comply with the various regulations under the Minor Offences Act.
