CURRENTLY, the use of aromatherapy in Brunei Darussalam is still limited to beauty and spa treatments. But according to therapist Yonie Bonawi, aromatherapy oils can help to reduce stress in children by stimulating their cranial nerves and allowing them to heal naturally.
Yonie Bonawi was speaking at a seminar titled ‘Journey towards better health and wellness’, which took place yesterday at the StarLodge in Jerudong. The event was co-hosted by DES School and Team extraOildanary.
She also gave a presentation titled, ‘Critical Illness Management: Can Essential Oils Help?’, which covered several topics, including aromatherapy for children with special needs and boosting fertility through the use of special oils.
The event also featured free health screenings, a children’s craft corner and a Young Living aromatherapy exhibition.
Yonie Bonawi said that the main purpose of the seminar was to create public awareness on essential oils for clinical and medicinal purposes.
