TO ACCOMMODATE the growing interest in classical music, Jerudong International School (JIS) recently hosted its 2nd Chamber Music Festival, at the JIS Arts Centre.
The workshop, which ran from October 1 to 3, was attended by 25 music students and 10 staff members from JIS, International School Berakas and Expression Music .
Leading the workshop was Kevin Field, the former conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, and currently Artistic Advisor to the Bentley Academy of Music in Kuala Lumpur. He also led the closing string concert performed by the participants, on the final day of the festival.
The recent music festival was organised with the aim of raising the quality of the students’ performances, and training them to function together as an ensemble.
