FITNESS Zone hosted its first ballet examination conducted by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), London at the health club’s Kiulap branch yesterday.
Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah binti Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah was among the children who took part in the exam conducted by Dale-Maree Coles from Australia who was representing the RAD, London and facilitated by Samuel Milan, Fitness Zone’s licensed and certified RAD teacher.
Dale-Maree Coles is one of 200 examiners who travel around the world to conduct the examination. “The children were absolutely excited for this examination which I found unusual because normally children are nervous. But for them dancing brings them joy. The examination is carried out on a global standard. It’s not an easy exam but most children find it enjoyable,” she said.
RAD is one of the world’s most influential dance education organisations that aims to set standards in classical ballet.
In a press statement, the health club’s Managing Director, Wu Chun said, “This year, Fitness Zone’s advocacy is to excel and look for more awesome ways to cater to different types of interests related to fitness. This includes kids, teenagers, mothers and young professionals. So we are aiming to get more licensed programmes.”
