The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has cautioned the public against irresponsible individuals who claim to be from the bureau and seek donation to run an anti-drug campaign using a ‘No Drugs at All’ tagline.
People running this bogus activity has even urged NCB to make their drive a success through dissemination of anti-drug information campaign, the bureau said.
NCB said it has not issued any instruction or order to seek donation from any government agencies or the private sector in carrying out campaign against misuse of drugs.
NCB takes this matter seriously and will step up its effort to detect irresponsible individuals or parties who impersonate as NCB representatives. If found guilty, the party shall be liable to an imprisonment of up to seven years and fine under the Penal Code (Chapter 22), the bureau said.
NCB urged members of the public to pass on any information on this matter or any suspicious activity related to the Misuse of Drugs Act. They can contact NCB at 2448877 or 8777444 after office hours.
