THE Kg Kapok Village Consultative Council (MPK Kg Katok) yesterday organised a ‘Tahlil and Doa Arwah Sekampung’, which coincided with the presentation of donations to the village’s orphans.
The ceremony took place at the residence of Kg Kapok Village Head, Haji Marali bin Haji Ahmad.
Haji Marali in his speech said, “The event is one of the village consultative council’s (MPK’s) annual activities aimed to enhance closer relations among residents of the village and the MPK.”
During the ceremony, 13 orphaned children from the village received a donation amounting to $1,000 each.
He said the donation was raised and collected from the residents of the village. This year, the MPK has collected a total of $13,000. The event shows the MPK members’ commitment to help the less fortunate people in the village in order to lessen their burden and at the same time caring for their welfare, he added.

The village head thanked all the generous donors in the village for their support and hoped the effort will continue in the future. He also urged the recipients to spend their money wisely.
