ANTHONY Abell College (AAC) received about $6,000 in charity contributions from various organisations in support of the school’s upcoming ‘As-Souq Al-Majani Charity Sale on June 21.
Several companies have also shown involvement especially in terms of donating food items and monetary contributions for the event which is held to raise funds for 300 students belonging to underprivileged families.
Speaking to the Bulletin yesterday was the Principal of AAC, Mas Diana binti Abdul Samat. She informed that the 300 students include 31 orphans who are not under the Ministry of Education.
The principal added this is the “school’s initiatives to help the students while also educating them in helping their peers when they are in need” through Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya (PRS) or peer counsellors with the cooperation of the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG).
She expressed hope that the students will learn to care about the community especially those who are facing difficulties in their immediate vicinity.

“The school tries to help the students to open their ways,” the principal said, adding that the school has invited organisations, companies and individuals to contribute in the form of food materials, used clothing and money means, to name a few.
Yesterday, the school received donations from Ya Nur Trading Company Sdn Bhd in the form of 300kg of rice, 300kg of sugar, 300 cans of condensed milk and 38 cartons of instant noodles. The items were presented by Managing Director of Ya Nur Trading Company, Shaikh Khalid bin Shaikh Haji Ahmad.
The school also received contributions from Massutera, presented by its Managing Director Haji Muhammad Alfie bin Haji Omar. Another company called MOC also contributed the previous day.
The school urged members of the public to make contributions for the upcoming charitable event by approaching Anthony Abell College.
