TELEKOM Brunei Berhad’s (TelBru) deployment of the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) network in Belait District is progressing well, the company said in a statement released to the media yesterday.
Under Phase 2.1, the construction of the new HSBB network in Kuala Belait, Mumong, Seria, Sungai Taring and Sungai Liang is progressively underway with Kuala Belait, Mumong and Seria scheduled for completion before the end of this year. Meanwhile, Sungai Taring and Sungai Liang is expected to be completed in early next year.
The new HSBB network is being constructed in small sections referred to as cabinet areas, which generally cover 10 to 12 simpangs in a block or radius arrangement per cabinet.
As soon as a cabinet area is completed, TelBru will start connecting new customers and migrating existing ones to the new HSBB network.
At the moment, more than 2,400 customers in Kuala Belait, Mumong and Seria are connected to the new HSBB network and are enjoying TelBru’s hi-tech, super-fast Internet services.
When fully completed, the project will benefit 3,440 residential and business customers in Kuala Belait, 5,525 in Mumong, 3,630 in Seria, 2,600 in Sungai Taring and 1,310 in Sungai Liang areas.

Since its introduction in 2013, TelBru has connected over 32,000 residential and business customers in Gadong, Madang, Bandar Seri Begawan, Sengkurong, Jerudong and Rimba offering them high quality Internet experience at home and at work.
TelBru plans to deploy similar services in the coming years in Tutong and Muara, which will benefit about 1,600 and 1,300 homes and businesses in both areas respectively.
