TRAVELLERS and expatriates now have another option to convert money at the newly-opened currency exchange in Kuala Belait.
Located at the alley in between The Face Shop and B Foot along Jln Pretty, A-Perdana Money Changer offers seven different types of foreign currencies.
“The currencies include the South Korean won, the British pound, US dollar, Australian dollar, Malaysian ringgit, Indonesian rupiah and the Philippines peso,” said Aaron Lo, owner of the money exchange.
Our focus is on those travelling abroad such as students or people who are going for holidays, the 28-year-old entrepreneur added.
“Another group of customers that we aim to cater for is the foreign workers who reside in Brunei,” Aaron said, adding that customers who wish to convert B$1,500 and above will have to provide identification documents.

When asked how he came about starting the money changer business, he said he had been looking for ways to support his family after being unemployed for about a year.
“I was working as a field engineer at an oil and gas company but some circumstances have occurred that didn’t let me stay, and since then, I’d been looking for jobs but nothing stuck, so I decided to start something, especially after seeing the money changer advertisement on the Borneo Bulletin by Authoriti Monetari of Brunei Darussalam (AMBD),” Aaron explained, while also thanking his family for all the support given to him.
A-Perdana Money Changer will be open from Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 5pm with the exception on Fridays when it will be closed from 12pm to 2pm. On Sunday, business will be open from 8.30am to 4pm.
