IT WAS a dream come true for a group of young Girl Guides from the Berakas Secondary School when they were invited to join in the 70th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and the royal banquet at Istana Nurul Iman.
What got them particularly excited was that it was their first trip up to the beautiful grand palace, where they got to personally meet and greet His Majesty, who also consented to a photo shoot, and ate delicious food.
One of the Girl Guides Dayangku Nur Aisyafiqah binti Pengiran Ismail, was all smiles and shared, “We braved ourselves to ask His Majesty’s consent for a picture.
“I sure am glad not only to be given the opportunity to celebrate His Majesty’s birthday but also for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of getting up close with my beloved ruler.”
