INTENDING Haj pilgrims who have been selected to perform the Haj for the Haj season 1437H/2016M attended a health briefing held at the Al-‘Afiah Hall of the Health Complex Building of the Ministry of Health yesterday.
The briefing began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa led by Haji Zilani bin Haji Bungsu, Assistant Religious Officer at the Haj Affairs Department.
The Acting Director of Haj Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), Haji Abdul Rahman bin Matzin, advised the intending Haj pilgrims to prepare themselves mentally and spiritually so as to purify their souls and strengthen their faith.
He further emphasised for the intending Haj pilgrims to take note of the different environment and conditions in Makkah, Madinah and Arafah that change from time to time.
According to him, performing Haj requires energy to carry out spiritual devotion which includes five daily prayers at Nabawi Mosque and Masjidil Haram, performing Umrah, Tawaf, Saei and Melontar Jamrah apart from the long journeys.

He said all these require a lot of energy in every intending Haj pilgrims and that they also need to be resilient and patient.
Present to facilitate the health briefing for the intending Haj pilgrims were Dr Haji Norzaidi bin Md Saini, Senior Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health in his capacity as the head of delegation for the Haj Affairs; and Dr Muhammad Nurhasanuddin bin Abdullah Kelali, Consultant, who delivered a talk on ‘Penjagaan Kesihatan dan Perkhidmatan Perubatan Di Tanah Suci’ (Health Care and Medical Services in Makkah).
Female intending Haj pilgrims, meanwhile attended another briefing touching on the health of female Haj pilgrims delivered by Dr Herni Hardi bin Haji Bidin, Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health.
This year, a total of 20 medical officers including six doctors and 14 nurses will represent the Brunei Darussalam Medical Officers Haj Affairs.
