THE giant flag in the Temburong District was lowered yesterday in a ceremony held at the Bangar waterfront area in conjunction with the 70th birthday celebrations of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The guest of honour was Mohd Amir Hairil bin Haji Mahmud, the Acting District Officer of the Temburong District. Also present were LegCo member YB Awang Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Ahad, members of the birthday celebrations in the Temburong District executive committee, branch heads, mukim penghulus and village heads.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by a mosque affairs officer, followed by the singing of the national anthem. Personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) then handed over the national flag to the guest of honour.
