Brunei, Vietnam strengthen bilateral ties with MoU on cultural cooperation

THE signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ministries of Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam on Saturday marked the continuous forging of cultural cooperation between the two nations.

The signing of the MoU coincided with the three-day state visit by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tran Dai Quang to Brunei Darussalam. The signing was held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ Digadong Hall and was between the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Signing on behalf of Brunei was Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports while representing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was Vuong Duy Bien, the Vice-Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Present to witness the auspicious occasion was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports with Dao Viet Trung, the Minister and Chairman of President Office of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The MoU aimed to facilitate and encourage cooperation in the fields of culture and arts between both countries. Among the activities hoped to be implemented include exchange of visits by respective officials and experts, exchange of materials and information, promotion of culture and the arts as well as participation in cultural dialogues, conferences, seminar and exhibitions.
