AUTORITI Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) recently conducted a roadshow for the officers and staff of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) at the Di-Gadong Hall, MCYS.
The roadshow included several briefings from different functions of AMBD. The Credit Bureau Unit began with a presentation on ‘Credit Bureau – Our Role in Your Financial Future’, explaining the role and importance of Credit Bureau, its services and the benefits of a credit report.
During the presentation, the Credit Bureau Unit underlined the element of trust, which was associated with the financial institutions’ confidence in lending, through borrowers’ ability and willingness to make the repayment – whether the borrowers has the capacity to repay the loans and has shown positive repayment behaviour by making prompt and regular payments of bills and loans.
The second briefing was on ‘Financial Fraud’, where the Financial Consumer Issues Unit explained, amongst others, the risks when one is involved with Get Rich Quick Scheme and ways to detect financial fraud.

The presentation aimed to equip the attendees with the ability to recognise some characteristics of financial scams, which commonly promise high returns in a short period of time, with little to no risk. The last presentation was on ‘Currency Order, 2004’ by the Currency Management Unit. This presentation was aimed to raise public awareness and serve as a reminder to the audience the dos and don’ts when handling Brunei Darussalam currency notes or coins.
A temporary AMBD Currency Gallery and Gift Shop was also available during the roadshow, where officers and staff of the ministry were able to view and purchase some of Brunei Darussalam’s commemorative notes and coins.
