Crown Prince graces Sovereign’s Parade

HIS Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) graced the Sovereign’s Parade ceremony held to celebrate 27 Officer Cadets of Officer Cadet School (OCS) 13th Intake under the Defence Academy of RBAF.

The ceremony, held at the OCS Parade Square in Sungai Akar Camp, was the last to be held at that location as future parades will be held at the new Defence Academy Headquarters in Tanah Jambu.

His Royal Highness was greeted upon arrival by Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the former Deputy Minister of Defence and Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, the Commander of the RBAF.

After receiving the royal salute from the Static Guard of Honour mounted by personnel of the Royal Brunei Land Force, His Royal Highness proceeded to receive the royal salute at the royal dais.

His Royal Highness then inspected the parade, which comprised 27 Officer Cadets of Intake 13 and supported by 33 Officer Cadets of Intake 14, led by Lieutenant Rosfadhly bin Haji Rosli of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN).

Among the 27 Officer Cadets, 13 have been assigned to the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), seven to the RBN and seven others to the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF).

His Royal Highness then presented awards to four Officer Cadets who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in various areas of the 52-week training, which were the ‘Sword of Honour’, awarded to 21750 Officer Cadet Auni ‘Afifah @ Yumni binti Haji Ali Hassan; the ‘Best Academic Award’ to 21751 Midshipman Qurratu’aini Qayyimah binti Dr Al-Haj Zelzy; 50996 ‘Best Military Skills Award’ to Officer Cadet Muhamad Fairuz bin Rosli; and ‘Best Physical Fitness Award’ to 21749 Midshipman Najihah binti Haji Abdul Hisab.

A Doa Selamat was read by the Assistant Head of RBAF Religious Department, Captain Ariffin bin Amit.

Following the parade, His Royal Highness proceeded to the Officers’ Mess and received a pesambah entitled ‘Wihdatul Alwanul Syuja’ah’. The Officer Cadets also presented their ‘Buku Perjalanan’, a training document in OCS written by the graduates, to His Royal Highness.

Prior to leaving the ceremony, His Royal Highness received greetings from the Officer Cadets and their families, officers and instructors of OCS as well as international course participants of the Junior Staff Course.
