Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs on work visit to Temburong District

DATO Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Vice-President of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, yesterday conducted a working to Temburong District.

The visit aimed to oversee the welfare of converts and underprivileged families in the district, as well as identify those in need of assistance.

The deputy minister and his delegation started the visit at the Kampong Temada residence of Nursabariah binti Abdullah Bungka, who has two dependents and receives housing assistance from the Islamic Da’wah Centre – funded by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council Zakat distribution for converts.

Next was a visit to Semabat Longhouse, where the delegation was greeted upon arrival by Ambol anak Bakit, Village Head of Kampong Lepong Baru and residents of the longhouse.

The deputy minister mingled with residents, before being updated on their current developments. According to the village head, the living conditions of residents in the village and its vicinity are very good, and youths who grew up there have succeeded in education and are currently working with government and private sectors.

The visit continued to the residence of Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman at Kampong Kenua. Abdul Aziz has one dependent and receives the Brunei Islamic Religious Council Zakat distribution in the form of monthly financial assistance.

The deputy minister explained that the working visit focused on observing the needs and living conditions of residents in the area. He was pleased to see that residents, particularly those in the Semabat area and its vicinity, are living in comfortable conditions.

He said, that is evidence of the concern of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Brunei Government with regards to the welfare of citizens and residents of Brunei, regardless of their race, beliefs and language.

He also said development among villagers is something to be proud of, as their conditions are much better than before, especially in terms of daily living conditions and education.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Islamic Da’wah Centre and the Islamic Religious Council Department will continue to monitor developments as well as enhance the surrounding conditions and welfare of converts and the underprivileged in Brunei Darussalam.
