THICK crowds of people turned up at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre yesterday to participate in the Plus+ Anniversary Charity Run, held in conjunction with World Heart Day.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin attended as guest of honour.
The event began with a warm-up, followed by the flag off for the 3km, 5km, and 10km categories by the guest of honour.
After crossing the finish line, participants collected their medals and gathered at the amphitheatre for a lucky draw, with winners bagging prizes in the form of hampers from Piccolo Café, Canon printers and Canon digital cameras from Interhouse Company, hotel vouchers from Rizqun International Hotel, mystery airline ticket from The Royal Brunei Airlines (RB), and Cardiac Premier Health Screening Packages from Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC).
The event concluded with a presentation of a token of appreciation to the guest of honour by Louis Loo Kee Lee, Business Developer and Founder of Plus+ Magazine.

The charity run carried the theme ‘Help a Heart Beat the Odds.’ It was organised by Plus+ Magazine together with the World Heart Federation to raise awareness of cardiac diseases.
Proceeds from the event will be channelled to the Humanitarian Emergency Aid Response Team (HEART) Brunei, a non-profit organisation committed to assist individuals with heart problems.
Speaking to the Bulletin, Louis Loo Kee Lee noted that the turnout was more than expected, with close to 1,000 participants signing up for the run.
Refreshment booths were set up by Suci Brand Premium Distilled Drinking Water as well as Kingston providing Yeo’s, Revive and Quaker Oat’s products to participants.
The event was supported by the Ministry of Health and approved by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
