DOZENS of residents in Kampong Sungai Bunga and Kampong Belukut as well as other volunteers from government agencies recently participated in a cleaning campaign organised by the Mukim Kota Batu Consultative Council and Village Consultative Council in collaboration with the Brunei-Muara District Office.
The cleaning campaign took place at the parking area of Kampong Sungai Bunga and the areas surrounding it. The campaign also aimed to instil and raise awareness on the importance of maintaining cleanliness while creating solidarity among the residents of Mukim Kota Batu.
Naim bin Haji Kamis, Penghulu of Mukim Kota Batu and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Kianggeh, during an interview, underlined that cleanliness is important to avoid unwanted diseases such as the Zika virus as well as to uphold the titah of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The cleaning campaign is part of the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Home Affairs to encourage residents in the country to be responsible in taking care of the cleanliness of their surroundings.
