A PREVIEW of cultural performance and exhibition for the upcoming 43rd Ship for Southeast Asia Youth Programme (SSEAYP) took place at the Digadong Hall of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) yesterday.
Hosted by the Department of Youth and Sports, MCYS, the event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa led by a representative of the 43rd SSEAYP participant Muhd Fawzul Azhiim bin Muhd Kamarul Zaman.
The event then proceeded with a brief remark by Pengiran Kamal Ariffin bin Pengiran Haji Md Yassin, the national leader of the Brunei contingent.
This was followed by presentation of sponsored items to the national leader and presentation of certificate of appreciation to representative of the respective sponsors.
A cultural performance and the attire to be worn during the programme were also showcased by the participants who comprise 13 males and 14 females, as well as the exhibition to be showcased on Nippon Maru ship.
SSEAYP is an international youth exchange programme for Asean member countries and Japan since 1974 with the objectives to generate international understanding and cooperation among Asean youths and Japan apart from learning the culture, politics and economic development of a country.
Brunei Darussalam’s participation this year marks its 31st participation since 1985.
This year’s programme will begin this October 25 to December 15. The 51-day programme is participated by 330 youths from 11 countries on board the Nippon Maru ship that will make stops at several countries namely Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia before reaching in Japan.
Brunei’s national leaders will also have the opportunity to visit Cambodia during the visit programme in Thailand.
