A TOTAL of $11,503 was collected during the recent Chung Hwa Middle School (CHMS) Alumni Association Charity Run 2016.
CHMS Alumni Association Charity Run 2016 Chairman Tan Guam Siong highlighted this during an appreciation dinner for all sponsors, volunteers and event partners, which was held at the Stadium Restaurant recently.
He noted that 30 per cent of the total funds raised will be donated to various charity organisations, namely – Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam (Pusat Ehsan); the Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA); Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei; including Chung Hwa Middle School and the CHMS Alumni Association.
Additionally, three units of 65’ Matrix TV sets were also presented to representatives from Pusat Ehsan, KACA and SMARTER Brunei, courtesy of The Little Bean Co.
Eighty cartons of drinking water were also donated to the respective charitable groups.
On hand to present the donations was the guest of honour, Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin.

The day later saw the presentation of certificates to sponsors, volunteers and event partners.
Tan Guam Siong expressed gratitude to all parties responsible for ensuring the charity run was a success – even when faced with the lack of participation from runners due to running events held in the same period.
“We only received 850 registered runners – far below the expected number as originally planned,” he said.
The inaugural CHMS Alumni Association Charity Run was organised to strengthen ties among members, ex-students of Chung Hwa Middle School (CHMS) and society.
The run carried the theme ‘Run for Health, Run for Charity’. It was divided into the 10.5km open, Borneo Bulletin 5.5km open, Borneo Bulletin 5.5km Veteran (50 years and above) and Kingston 3km Fun Run.
