FIVE International School Brunei (ISB) students yesterday bade farewell to their families at the Brunei International Airport as they prepared to depart for Japan on a 10-day student exchange programme.
Organised by the (Japanese) National Institution for Youth Education and coordinated locally by the Brunei Association for Japan Alumni (BAJA), the exchange invitation is sent to all Asean member countries.
The aim of the exchange programme is not only to foster friendship and cohesion between the Asean region and Japan, but also to deepen the Asean youths understanding of Japan and what it has to offer culturally, and through its natural environment.
The project also aims to broaden the global view of Japanese students to foster the next generation of leaders.

The National Institution for Youth Education implements youth educational programmes centering on friendships and outdoor experiences with the aim of promoting youth education in Japan and healthy youth development.
The Year 10 students will engage in various educational and cultural activities over the 10 days, including outdoor fun and games where they can expect to get very cold.
The activity-filled programme will also allow a close up experience with Japanese culture as the students will each spend one night with a Japanese family. The group will return on November 3.
The five ISB students are Dylan Zayd, Hamiz Fadil, Nicholas Yew, Felecia Kwa and Andrea Young.
