MoF holds religious talk, Al-Quran prize presentation

THE Ministry of Finance and departments under it held a special talk to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and a prize presentation for the winners of the Al-Quran reading competition for officers and staff of the ministry.

Present as the guest of honour was the Acting Minister of Finance, Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim.

Also in attendance were the Deputy Minister of Finance (Fiscal), Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hisham bin Haji Mohd Hanifah; Deputy Minister of Finance (Investment), Dato Paduka Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah; permanent secretaries, senior officers and staff members of the ministry.

The gathering was to remember the sacrifice of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that sets as a noble example to Muslim Ummah in our daily life and whom spread the teachings of Islam.

A religious talk was also presented by Muhammad Yusof bin Haji Abdul Majid, Special Duties Officer Grade II at the Ministry of Religious Affairs entitled ‘Foothold to Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in this end of time’.

Four male and four female Al-Quran readers competed in the Al-Quran reading competition.

In the male category, the winner was Abdul Rahim bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Tamin from Royal Customs and Excise Department while in the female category, the winner was Amal Afiqah binti Ali from Darussalam Assets.

Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman presented prizes to the representative of Abdul Rahim and to Amal Afiqah.

The gathering yesterday was held at the Theatre Hall of the Ministry of Finance and coordinated by Royal Customs and Excise Department.
