IN ENLIVENING the Maulidur Rasul 1438 Hijrah celebrations, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and its departments yesterday gathered at the Multipurpose Hall of the Fire and Rescue Department for a religious celebration to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
The guest of honour was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs.
Also in attendance were Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the MoHA; deputy permanent secretary and acting deputy permanent secretary, senior officers, officers and staff members of the ministry and departments under it as well as penghulus and village heads.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran by Mohammad bin Ali (Firqatunnida), Champion of the 15th Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran International Level in Russia.
It was then followed by a welcoming remark from the Commissioner of Labour at the Labour Department, Ajman bin Haji Meludin.

The ceremony then continued with a special talk titled ‘Wawasan Berkat Yang Bercontoh Kepada Rasulullah SAW’ delivered by Ustaz Dr Kamaru Salam Yusof, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Finance of the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
The event was further enlivened with a Dikir Marhaban.
A Doa Selamat was then recited that marked the end of the event.
The religious celebration is part of the ministry’s annual activity in enlivening Islamic celebrations in Brunei and such events are seen as a platform in seeking blessings from Allah the Almighty and Syafa’at from Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
It aims to encourage Muslims to follow the Sunnah and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in all aspects of life in accordance with the theme of this year’s celebration.
