Police foil foreigners’ smuggling attempt

|     James Kon     |

TWO foreigners were detained by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) personnel of the Bebuloh Border Checkpoint for attempting to smuggle in a dozen carton of illegal cigarettes, 22 cartons of beer and 20 bottles of alcoholic drinks in a vehicle.

According to a statement from the RBPF, the contraband items were discovered during a ‘Stop & Search’ operation at the Bebuloh Border Checkpoint on December 16 at around 4am.

The driver and the passenger were detained for further investigation, while the confiscated items were handed over to the relevant enforcement agency.

The RBPF reminded the public to steer clear of activities in violation of the laws and regulations of Brunei Darussalam, and to always cooperate with law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety and security of the country’s border checkpoints.
