OFFICIALS of the People’s Daily, the largest Chinese newspaper in the People’s Republic of China, yesterday held a fruitful exchange with officials of Brunei Press Sdn Bhd, the publisher of the Sultanate’s leading dailies – Borneo Bulletin and Media Permata.
Brunei Press General Manager Reggie See and Brunei Press Deputy General Manager Hazizah Osman welcomed the arrival of Ding Zi, Director of Asia Pacific Regional Bureau of People’s Daily (based in Thailand); Zhang Zhiwen, a correspondent; and Wang Yan, Chief Political and Cultural Section of Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei Darussalam.
Also joining the discussions was Brunei Press Senior Manager (Finance and Operations) Suzie Houng.
The visitors were given an in-depth presentation on the history of Brunei Press.

Ding Zi, who is in Brunei Darussalam to report on the opening ceremony of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Brunei branch, revealed that the People’s Daily has 45 branches worldwide, and that the Bangkok’s bureau was set up more than 20 years ago.
He highlighted that People’s Daily Group comprises online news, global times (English newspaper) and magazines. Currently, the People’s Daily circulation stands at around three million.
Ding Zi also touched on the possibility of cooperation in the field of news sharing between both newspaper agencies.
