THE Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) celebrated its 54th anniversary yesterday with a parade at the field of the First Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force in Berakas Garrison.

The event began with a parade inspection, and a speech delivered by the Commander of the RBLF, Brigadier General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud.

In his speech, the Commander expressed his appreciation, and pledged unwavering allegiance to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji ‘Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and the Minister of Defence and the Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

He noted that RBLF had already evolved into a highly skilled organisation, in line with its strategic development plan; and that all directed efforts are relevant to its vision, as defined in the 2011 Defence White Paper.

The commander also spoke about the diversification in its organisational structure, which includes the development of RBLF units such as the Signal Squadron and Force Transport, and the establishment of the ‘E’ Company of the First Battalion RBLF in Bangar Camp, Temburong as the focal point for the Fourth Battalion.

The RBLF saw the establishment of Company ‘D’ in each of the Company’s Ceremonial Infantry Battalions, which in due course will be merged into a special ceremonial Battalion, specialising in carrying out ceremonial duties, Brigadier General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan said.

Meanwhile, he also noted that the RBLF has made changes to its uniform, which incorporates the use of symbols to promote a sense of responsibility within the unit; and a badge of expertise for each individual.

Additionally, military vehicles will be fitted with special identification symbols representing each unit, together with the newly-adopted and amended RBLF flag.

The RBLF Headquarters is currently in the process of publishing a book titled, ‘Shaping the Army towards Vision 2035’, which will serve as a blueprint for the future RBLF, in three separate phases.

Two supporting documents on strategic plans for operational concepts are also in the process of being published, and these three documents will be a major guide for the development of the military by 2035, Brigadier General Pengiran Dato Paduka Aminan said.

The commander concluded by complimenting the personnel of RBLF, including retired staff, for their good performance.

The event continued with a presentation of badges and emblems for military vehicles delivered to all units within the RBLF.

This was then followed by the RBLF pledge, led by the parade leader, Major Pengiran Mohammad Shamsul Reza bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Tengah.

Several activities were held as part of the anniversary celebrations, including the recitation of Tahlil at the Royal Mausoleum on October 28, and thanksgiving prayers at the Berakas Surau on November 3.
