THE children of the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei were treated to rousing performances by the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the US Navy Seventh Fleet Band, which took place yesterday at the Smarter Autism Edge Centre in Gadong.
The visit coincided with bilateral military exercises conducted between Brunei Darussalam and the United States, in the 21st Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise.
Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman, the President of SMARTER Brunei, also thanked the two navy bands for taking the time to entertain and interact with the children through some lively musical performances.
He also expressed his gratitude to the US Embassy in Brunei Darussalam for arranging an exclusive performance from the US Navy Seventh Fleet Band ensemble, the ‘Orient Express’, and bringing joy to the children of SMARTER Brunei.
“The real-life experience of enjoying a live performance has definitely added value to the lives of these individuals with autism, and they were able to participate by dancing and singing along with the band,” he said.
