BY THE consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and the Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), 24 senior officers and four Cadet Force Officers of the RBAF yesterday received their promotion to higher rank at the Officers’ Mess, Bolkiah Garrison.
Presenting the insignias was Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the RBAF. Also witnessing the ceremony were First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence; members of the Defence Executive Committee; service commanders; commandants; directors; senior officers and officers of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF as well as family members of the promoted senior officers.
The 24 senior officers promoted to Acting Lieutenant Colonel/Acting Commander are 347 Acting Lieutenant Colonel (U) Harmadi bin Haji Mamit, 352 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Haji Mohd Sheh bin Haji Bagul, 377 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Nooridah binti Haji Ibrahim, 432 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Hajah Suriani binti Haji Junaidi, 447 Acting Lieutenant Colonel (U) Hishamuddin bin Abidin, 458 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Haji Abdul Kadir bin Haji Mahmud, 476 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Pengiran Mohamed Sufri bin Pengiran Haji Rosli, 481 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Haji Ismadi bin Haji Jumat, 491 Acting Lieutenant Colonel (U) Hismawadi bin Haji Mohd Said, 493 Acting Lieutenant Colonel (U) Azmie Iskandar bin Ariffin, 494 Acting Lieutenant Colonel (U) Mohamad Sufian bin Ahmad, 517 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Aldi bin Haji Hassan, 520 Acting Commander Sahibul Bahari bin Haji Zainal Abidin, RBN, 527 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Pengiran Aeddie Masjaffrie bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad Jaafar, 528 Acting Commander Nor Ariffin bin Mohammad Ali, RBN, 553 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Mardini bin Abd Rahman, 540 Acting Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhammad Amiruddin bin Tuah, 541 Acting Lieutenant Colonel (U) Schufin bin Haji Ibrahim, 561 Acting Lieutenant Colonel (U) Zainolhizad bin Haji Md Zain, 578 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Amilin bin Haji Mohammad Gani/Haji Junit, 582 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Erwan bin Haji Ibrahim, 596 Acting Commander Haji Norbahrin bin Haji Muamad, RBN, 600 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rajid bin Haji Zainie and 636 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Haji Rony Zai bin Haji Zaini.

In an interview, 432 Acting Lieutenant Colonel Hajah Suriani binti Haji Junaidi said with the promotion, she will do her best to serve the Government of His Majesty. She also conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to His Majesty for the consent in the promotion and expressed thanks to the unit commanders as well as deck members who have given support for the promotion.
The newly promoted Acting Lieutenant Colonel Hajah Suriani joined the military in 1993 with the passion to serve Brunei Darussalam. In addition, she also sees that a career within the military can provide various opportunities as well as challenges.
She added, “Being in the military is an honour. Going through various trainings, it helps to build up skills, knowledge as well as confidence of oneself.”
At the same promotion ceremony, four Cadet Force Officers (CFO) were also promoted to the Captain rank. These officers are 502 CFO Captain Jalil bin Pengarah Haji Kapitan, 507 CFO Captain Tikom bin Subi @ Mohd Subhi, 509 CFO Captain Haji Zulkiflee bin Haji Jalil dan 533 CFO Captain Zaidi bin Mohidin.
The RBAF promotion exercise is part of an ongoing effort to recognise, reward and groom officers who have performed well and demonstrated potential to contribute further to the RBAF. All promotions took effect from October 30, 2015.
