Mukim Telisai’s senior citizens celebrated

SENIOR citizens aged 80 and above from Mukim Telisai were yesterday celebrated in a ceremony marking International Senior Citizen Day 2015.

Organised by the Mukim Telisai Consultative Council, the celebration saw Permanent Secretary (Downstream and Power) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Paduka Haji Jamain bin Haji Julaihi as guest of honour. He was accompanied by Tutong District Officer Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali and Kg Bukit Beruang Village Head Ahmad bin Aman.

Also in attendance were Legislative Council member and Mukim Telisai Penghulu YB Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, Assistant Tutong District Officer Haji Adnan bin Haji Adam and Special Duties Officer at Tutong District Office Haji Haizul Rizal bin Haji Yahya.

The highlight of the event was a special musical performance by the Mukim Consultative Council (MPM) Telisai Acoustic Group and a Dikir Marhaban for the celebrated senior citizens, who were also given tokens of appreciation.

In his welcoming remark, Ahmad bin Aman noted that this was the second of such events organised, with the first held back in 2012.

He expressed hopes that event would heighten the spirit of caring for senior communities within the society, adding that it is crucial that the current and future generations continue to appreciate and respect senior citizens for their contributions.
