MEGAMAS Training Company Sdn Bhd recently received the ‘Industry Champion of the Year’ trophy during the Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability (ACES) Awards at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Singapore, a press release said.
The award, organised by MORS Group, was aimed at recognising the services and achievements of businesses in Asia, of which 110 were nominated in various categories.
The Chief Executive of MORS Group, Shanggari Balakrishnan said that Brunei companies, like Megamas Training Company have shown development in business, which she said is good for the country and Asia’s development.
“Entrepreneurship and businesses are important because they create job opportunities, while steadying the economy of the country,” she said.
Mohd Roger Ainsworth, the General Manager of Megamas Training Company said that the award was a motivation for Megamas to further improve for the Sultanate.
“To be an industry champion, Megamas has consistently remained focused on its core belief that workers’ safety must always be our first and foremost consideration and priority, and improving HSE performance is a collective effort which requires diligence and the rewarding of good performance,” said the winner of the Industry Champion of the Year Award.

The general manager said that the award reflects the hard work of all the management and staff in Megamas. “This award is for them, we all share in the success,” he said.
Mohd Roger added that, “Megamas now trains outside Brunei delivering courses in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and China. All instructors have attended Train-the-Trainer courses, and all offshore and HSE instructors have obtained OPITO Competence Assessor qualifications. The defensive driving instructors are all RoSPA approved, and the material handling instructors all LEEA approved.
A “family” culture runs strongly throughout all levels of the organisation, and Megamas is recognised for its Local Business Development (LBD) with 90 per cent locals employed with the company, in keeping with its focus on the recruitment, training, and development of local Bruneian citizens in line with the aspirations of the nation.”
