THE 50th Meeting of the Asean Committee for Culture and Information (Asean COCI) was held in Surabaya, Indonesia, on November 10-11.
Prior to the meeting, two meetings were held concurrently by the Sub-Committee on Culture (SCC) and Sub-Committee on Information on November 9, while an informal head of delegation meeting was held on November 8.
The meeting considered and approved suggested projects for the financial year 2016.
Brunei Darussalam highlighted several projects including ‘Completing Asean Sculptures at Taman Damuan in Preparation for Asean City of Culture’ from Asean-COCI SCC; while ‘Asean Television News: Integrates, Informs, Inspires’, ‘Voice of Asean – Beyond Boundaries (VoABB)’ and ‘The Development of “We Asean” Application on Mobile Phone’ are from the Asean-COCI Sub-Committee on Information (SCI).
In a press release, the Department of Information said, “Projects implemented during the financial year of 2015 showed continuous commitment of the country to supporting the aspiration of Asean Community 2015 in the field of culture and information.”
The Brunei delegation was led by Haji Mohd Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abdul Samad, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as Chairman of Brunei Darussalam Asean-COCI.
The meeting was participated by Mawardi bin Haji Mohammad, Acting Director of Information; Haji Mohammad Abdoh bin Haji Awang Damit, Acting Assistant Director (Culture and Arts), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as Deputy Chairman of the Asean-COCI Sub Committee on Culture; and officers from the Information Department and Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB).
