SCORING 175 points, Team Kelvin yesterday emerged as victor of the ‘Amazing Race’ in the School Based Committee (SBC) Physics Camp 2015 which played out at Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School.
Team Watt Whom ranked in second place, while Team Hertz took third place in the competition, which was open to students from secondary schools.
Acting Assistant Director of the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education, cum guest of honour Mazlan bin Haji Abang awarded the prizes to the winners.
The Amazing Race required participants to partake in the human wheelbarrow, human sponge, target practice, paper food, upside down delivery, paper plane, egg parachute and mastermind activities among others.
A total of 120 students from 29 secondary schools participated in the SBC Physics Camp 2015, which was organised by the School Based Committee Physics and Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School.
The camp aimed to promote interest in physics, allow students the chance to apply their acquired physics knowledge into everyday life, train future engineers of Brunei and to promote collaboration, team work, creativity and confidence among students in developing 21st century skills.

As part of the camp, Network Integrity Assurance Technologies Sdn Bhd (NiAT), a local satellite communications service provider, delivered a talk on satellite communications in Brunei to raise awareness on the advancement and availability of the satellite communications technology here.
NiAT Chief Technical Officer Siti Nurazzah binti Pehin Dato Haji Abdul Aziz touched on the technological life stages of a satellite and shared the recent achievements for participating in the launch of the newest leased satellite in China. The satellite is co-owned by one of NiAT’s shareholders, TS Global Networks Sdn Bhd.
Meanwhile, NiAT Project Engineer Wong Teck Sion discussed his experience as an applied physics graduate and its relevance and importance to the industry, especially in terms of growing talents locally.
