TWENTY-three candidates from the government and private sectors finished an HCNA-Routing and Switching Training Programme organised by Huawei from November 9-20, in an effort to enhance local ICT talents.

The concluding event at Radisson Hotel yesterday was the culmination of eight days spent in training, and two days of examination, led by facilitator Tony Khoo, a trainer from Huawei.

The current version of the training material was v2.1, and the main objective of the training programme was providing instructions on basic and fundamental networking knowledge, together with configuration and troubleshooting skills.

The training focused mainly on the AR G3 series router, as well as Sx7 Switches.

The candidates are now Huawei Certified Associates. Their training has provided them a platform for experience-sharing, and they are expected to be more self-reliant in the future, without having to lean on support experts.

Huawei is a global leader in ICT solutions, with its telecommunications network equipment, IT products and solutions and smart devices being used in more than 170 countries.

The company also offers a broad portfolio of innovative solutions that cater to global clientele from the government and the public sectors, finance, transportation, energy, large enterprises, and small and medium enterprises.

This includes a portfolio that covers enterprise networking, unified communications and collaboration (UC&C), cloud computing and data centre, enterprise wireless, network energy and infrastructure services.

In August this year, eight Bruneian undergraduates in the field of ICT engineering, from Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Institut Teknologi Brunei, successfully underwent a Certification Training for Partners in Brunei programme.

The undergraduates were all participants in Huawei’s largest global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme called “Seeds for the Future”, a project aimed at developing local ICT talents, enhancing knowledge transfer, promoting greater understanding and interest in the ICT sector, as well as encouraging regional building and participation in the digital community.
