IN COMMEMORATING the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), people from all walks of life participated in the Maulidur Rasul procession held nationwide, led by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in the main procession at Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.
Businesses operated only in the latter half of the day to respect the event, but some owners even took the half-day opportunity to give alms as soon as they opened their shops.
Like Redwan Esbinati, owner of Sugar & Spice Arabic Food Restaurant. He prepared hundreds of Arabic food to give away for the sake of earning rewards from Allah the Almighty.
Over a hundred people yesterday flocked to the restaurant in Kiulap to get their share of the hand-outs, a new menu item, the Shawarma Roll. The Shawarma Roll, according to Redwan, uses much healthier bread than that of their normal Shawarmas.
