GRAND Motors Sdn Bhd has unveiled a new Kia Optima loaded with evolutionary design and cutting edge technology, making it more stylish, sporty and comfortable. The open showroom for the new Optima was held yesterday at its showroom in Beribi.
The latest iteration features a new interior with higher quality materials, enough space for every passenger in the new cabin, a 50 per cent stronger bodyshell, a range of new active safety technologies and a new high-powered Optima GT model with a 2.0-litre petrol engine.
The new Optima boasts an evolutionary new look designed to be functional and sporty with exterior dimensions that are marginally longer, taller and wider – giving a roomier cabin and greater cargo capacity.
The vehicle integrates the brand’s hallmark ‘tiger nose’ grille with the longer, wider, wrap-around headlamps, pulled over the blistered wheel arches. The bumper swells into bold right angles around the front fog lamps – adding greater volume to the lower part of the ‘face’, giving the car a more stable and wider look.

An interesting part of the car is its uniquely engineered body with higher strength materials, resulting to better standards of crash safety and passive safety. This was made possible by Kia’s engineers aiming to achieve the highest possible global safety ratings throughout the Optima’s development programme, including five-star Euro NCAP and US NHTSA safety ratings and a Top Safety Pick Plus status from the USA’s IIHS.
In addition, among the new technologies equipped into the vehicle are touch screen infotainment and wireless phone charging boasting a range of innovative on-board technologies in enhancing usability, comfort and convenience for users. It also comes available with up to two USB charging ports.
