TAWAU (Bernama) – An illegal immigrant believed to be Indonesian was detained for using a Mykad belonging to another person in an attempt to enter the district, on Friday.
The 27-year-old man had shown a card with number 921116-12-6999 under the name of Damsah Adam Malik of Kampung Simunul, 91300 Semporna.
Sabah Region Marine Police Force (PPM) Commander said the man was checked d when a PPM team stopped a boat in the Sabindo Sea at 3pm.
“A passenger had shown a Mykad belonging to someone else during preliminary inspection. The man, who was from Celebes, revealed his actual name and admitted that the card was not his,” he said in a statement here on Sunday.
He said the man was arrested and would be investigated under the National Registration Regulations 1990.
