Her Majesty attends Maulidur Rasul celebration

HER Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam yesterday morning consented to attend the Special Assembly for Women in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration for the year 1437 Hijrah that was held at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.

Her Majesty was greeted upon arrival by the Ra’es of the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), Ustazah Dr Hajah Masnon binti Haji Ibrahim in her capacity as the Joint Chairperson as well as members of the organising committee that were comprised of Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam.

Accompanying Her Majesty at the religious ceremony were Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman; Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah; Her Royal Highness princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The religious ceremony proc-eeded with the recitation of Al-Quran, Surah Al-Ahzab verses 38-48, read by Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri, first runner-up of the 2013 Southeast Asia Youth Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran while its translation was delivered by Hajah Siti Juriah binti Haji Japar, Assistant Lecturer from Religious Teacher’s University College of Seri Begawan.

In her welcoming address, Dr Hajah Masnon explained that the Special Assembly for Women was being held in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration was for the 22nd year since it was inaugurated in 1995. Over the years, she added, all government ministries have been involved in organising the celebration.

“The celebration is organised annually by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam while one of the government institutions will take in rotation collaborate with the event.”

“For this year, Ministry of Home Affairs was chosen to collaborate with the organising committee.

“The theme highlights the Sunnah as source of reference and knowledge for Muslim that derived from Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) whether his words, actions, declarations or his characters and manners.

“The theme also aimed to encourage the Muslims to learn from and appreciate the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as well to uphold his Sunnah as the arrival of the Prophet (pbuh) is a blessing for the world,” she explained.

A special lecture based on this year’s theme was presented by Dr Hajah Sarinah binti Haji Yahya, Dean of Faculty of Usuluddin, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).

Students from the Bandar Seri Begawan Arabic Preparatory School performed their ‘Kalam Jama’ie’ or choral speech delivering their performance narrating characteristics of Ras-ulullah (pbuh) that are Siddiq (Honest), Amanah (Trustworthy), Tabligh (Delivers prophecy of Allah the Almighty) and Fathanah (Intelligent).

A group of female officers and staff from Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and members from the Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam performed a Dikir Marhaban before concluding the ceremony.

In blessing the ceremony, a Doa Selamat was read by Datin Hajah Maznah binti Haji Muhammad.
