THE Employees Trust Fund (TAP) launched its 2016 series of roadshows starting with employers in Belait District which was held at the Kampong Pandan Community Hall, Kuala Belait.

Among the activities are briefings on the TAP Act and Supplemental Contributory Pension (SCP) Order, employees’ registration and contribution payment procedures, and TAP’s online service, e-Amanah.

Dayangku Siti Nurhalimatul Sa’adiah, Assistant Manager of TAP Enforcement Unit, highlighted the responsibilities of employers to register and pay the TAP and SCP contributions of their eligible employees. Employees who are citizens and permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam are required to be registered and contribute to TAP if they are under the age 55, and SCP, if they are under the age of 60.

This includes contract workers, daily-paid and part-time workers. She later explained about the offences under the TAP Act and SCP Order. It is an offence for employers who fail to register and pay their employees TAP and SCP contributions.

If found guilty, employers may be fined not more than $3,000 for the first offence and $10,000 for the second and subsequent offences.

The event was followed by a briefing on the TAP and SCP contribution payment procedure by Hajah Raeidyah binti Haji Bujang, Acting Senior Manager of TAP Customer Service Department.

Also highlighted was the single contribution amount which combines the TAP and SCP contributions that has been calculated by TAP for the convenience of employers. She also explained the one contribution payment form which can be used in the form of pre-printed; or, automated via TAP’s automation application; or, and a template provided in e-Amanah.

The final briefing was on e-Amanah, TAP’s online service, delivered by Hasyimah Zawanah binti Haji Hashim, Acting Head of TAP Branches Unit.

E-Amanah online service facilitates employers in administering the registration and contribution of their employees without having to go to TAP counters.

This is in line with TAP’s effort in providing efficient, effective and convenient services to employers. With e-Amanah, employers can also make contribution payment, update their employee’s details, and make appointments with TAP online without the need to visit TAP counters.

Besides the briefing sessions, TAP also set up an e-Amanah booth to enable employers to have a closer look at the online system. The roadshow will be extended to Tutong District on January 20, Brunei-Muara District on January 25 and 26, and Temburong District on January 27.

Employers who wish to have more information on the roadshow may contact the TAP Call Centre.
